Smart packaging solutions for demanding packaging needs
Sustainable product features
Today’s consumers are well informed about the environmental impact of a product. For decades Rani Plast has been increasing the share of recycled polyethylene in our packaging films. Today, we offer recycled versions of all our industry films with many product solutions to choose from.
We also offer packaging solutions made entirely or partially from renewable biological resources. Biobased raw material is primarily used in domestic household products such as waste bags and food applications such as bread bags.
Biodegradable plastics are commonly produced with renewable materials which, in the right conditions, degrade naturally and are harmless to nature. Biodegradable film is mainly used in the manufacture of compostable waste bags suitable for domestic and professional use.
Technical product features
This is usually multilayer packaging film designed to protect the content from oxygen, moisture, solar UV radiation and odour. Our latest production technology allows us to manufacture oxygen barrier films to large width dimensions for agricultural use.
Our MDO (machine direction oriented) film is used to describe a thin but mechanically very strong film. Stronger MDO films can also be used in more sustainable mono-material laminates.
Our innovative pest-repellent bale wrap contains a non-toxic, natural active ingredient which, through odour and taste, is repulsive to crows, ravens, rats and mice. The repellent ingredient can be applied to other packaging applications requiring similar protective properties.
Greenhouse entrepreneur explains why plastic packaging is the eco-choice for freshness and reducing waste
Aleksi Hauhtonen, the 38-year-old CEO of Kannuksen Kauppapuutarha, lives an interesting and busy entrepreneurial life. Every year, the family business produces more than a million kilos of cucumbers and half a million lettuces in its 8,500 square metre greenhouse growing facilities.
We all know that manoeuvring a large ship takes time. Patience and professionalism are required from the captain and the crew navigating a large ship safely to port. At Rani Plast, we think in much the same way about the sustainable development of the plastics industry.
Rani Plast customers will start benefiting this autumn from an investment plan totalling €10 million to include a new seven-layer bale wrap film blowing line designed to increase production capacity in Finland.
Our popular moisture barrier films RaniMoBar and RaniProtecVapor were awarded the Finnish Key Flag in October of 2020. Products labelled with the Key Flag indicate that the product is manufactured or that the service is produced in Finland and that the process employs people in Finland.
