We help you to protect your products

News

The right packaging makes all the difference. For us, smart packaging means extending the lifespan of your products while also prioritising our environmental efforts. At Rani, we believe in Packaging for Life.

Mats Albäck, Director of Sustainability and Development, has set out a detailed plan to achieve greater sustainability in production. The company pioneered ambitious CO2 targets in 2019, and its aim now is to move towards carbon neutrality at an even faster pace.

– From an environmental standpoint, our new strategy has three objectives: achieving carbon neutrality, improving product sustainability, and complying with the new CSRD directive, he says.

As a customer, you’ll reap significant benefits from these initiatives, particularly from the fact that our products will soon be fully traceable. We plan to ensure that you can quickly and easily determine a product’s raw materials and manufacturing processes. Mats Albäck and his team are developing an exemplary model with Rani Clear EcoL, a tissue paper film, showing how environmental data can be presented.

Our products will soon be fully traceable.

– The information should be accessible and easy to understand, searchable not only at the product level but also, for instance, at the annual level, he says. As part of the company’s new strategy, he is designing a map of the business to see where action is needed to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. What is also new is that, this time, we’re assessing the entire group, including all subsidiaries. We will formulate a detailed plan once we’ve identified the areas that offset the most emissions. The goal is to implement concrete measures as early as next year.

– This aligns with the new CSRD Directive, which requires certain companies to report on their environmental impacts. Simultaneously, the report will form the basis for decision-making on sustainability efforts.

“We’re elevating our commitment to quality”

At Rani, this isn’t merely a project; it’s a sincere commitment to developing the most sustainable and high-quality products achievable. Production Director Jan Knutar says sustainability is ingrained throughout production, and that environmental considerations and investments for greater quality take top priority.

– Rani has built its reputation on quality, and with this new strategy, we’re elevating our commitment to quality even further. As our customer, you can trust in the high quality of our products, which in effect increases your products’ quality too. We strive for total quality throughout the supply chain.

Our mission is to show that we are taking responsibility and work towards more sustainable production. Plastic, when used correctly, is often the best packaging choice.

One example is what is known in the industry as “roll quality.” The first thing customers notice is how a product looks. A Rani customer can immediately identify our rolls by their uniform appearance and other attributes: straight edges, smooth surfaces, and meticulous packaging. In production, Rani’s quality ethos involves a new approach to occupational safety and investment in skills development. Several standardisation projects are underway to streamline manufacturing processes, simplifying tasks for production workers and, ultimately, deliver superior products.

Sustainability work is part of social responsibility

Jan and Mats collaborate to connect theory with practical implementation, ensuring ideals become apparent in reality.

– Saying that ‘we simplify processes’ may sound like a marketing slogan, but the phrase does describe our operational goals perfectly, says Jan. Without our customers, there’s no Rani. We strive for optimal ways to manufacture and deliver what our customers want — in line with one of our key values: We Deliver.

Mats Albäck reminds us that sustainability in production is part of a company’s social responsibility.

– There is a lot of misinformation in the plastics industry. Our mission is to show how we are taking responsibility and working towards more sustainable production by increasing the proportions of recycled content. Plastic, when used correctly, is often the best packaging choice to protect your goods. It is not for nothing that we talk about Packaging for Life.
