Rani Plast’s new ISCC Plus certificate reassures customers of sustainable content

Sustainability

Rani Plast’s customers increasingly demand the use of sustainable raw materials in packaging films.

In an important move to certify the use of sustainable raw materials in the manufacture of its packaging materials, including its wide range of plastic films, Rani Plast has been recognised with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS) certificate.

This means certified audits are made to record the use of sustainable raw materials. The new certificate endorses a mix of sustainable and fossil-based raw materials in the same manufacturing process, one which is environmentally advantageous and supports circular economy.

ISCC PLUS provides assurances for our customers of certified sustainable content, allocated through the mass balance approach, in our films and recognises the ability to track it.

The sustainable raw materials certified by ISCC are:

  • Polyethylene derived from renewable feedstock including crude tall oil and used cooking oil among others.
  • Chemically recycled polyethylene, specifically used for food packaging films in which origin traceability is important.

Through the independent ISCC auditing, which not only separates the bookkeeping of sustainable and fossil-based raw materials, but also tracks their origin, Rani Plast can measure the progress it is making in increasing the use of sustainable raw materials.

Rani Plast Sales Manager Jan Knutar said: “We are delighted with the new certificate as we always strive to use more sustainable raw materials in our packaging films. ISCC PLUS provides assurances for our customers of certified sustainable content in our films and recognises the ability to track it.”
